Sent the Wife on an Ammo Run
 

The wife was heading to WallyWorld and asked if I needed anything. Hahaha! I always need ammo! Instead of "Pound sand," she tells me to write down what I want. So I show her one of the Remington UMC 100 rd boxes, and write down the info. I tell her 1st choice is 9mm, 2nd choice is .40 S&W, 3rd choice is .45 ACP, and 4th is a 100 rd box of Federal .223.

She comes home with a box of the .45 ACP. Says the sales clerk told her they're running low on ammo, and they've been "selling a lot lately."

By the way, I don't have any guns, but if I were going to get one, I'd probably buy something in one of those calibers....

yes it would be handy to eventually get a gun in one of those calibres... you'll be able to give your arm a rest from all the bullet chucking you have to do at the moment. :biggrin:

It's definitely running low. I was shopping for ammo as Christmas gifts for my brother-in-law and my mom, and I was having a hard time finding what I wanted, even though it's all common calibers. Lots of stuff on "we don't know when it will come in" backorder...

LOL, I was talking about picking up some ammo online a week or so ago and my wife asked me how much was on-hand for that particular caliber. I expected the line of questioning to lead to her telling me we had enough of that and to load up on something else entirely.
I was wrong.
She demanded that I order twice as much as I had intended.

Stories like that warm my heart! :ok:

I used to have firearms, but I keep losing them on fishing trips. And since I fish in the Gulf, I'm sure all of those firearms I've lost have been rendered useless by the salt water.

Still, I think I'll take your advice. One AR kit and one 9mm - maybe another CZ - should console me somewhat.:rofl:

went by one of our local wally worlds friday looking to buy some 38spl ammo

they were totally out, so saturday i called all the WM supercenters in the area (within a 30min drive) which amounts to over 10 ....i found one that had just got in 38spl, by the time i got there they only had 10 boxes left of course i took them all.

but surveying around

8 outa 10 were out of 223 (the one that had the 38s also had a couple of boxes of 223 which i grabed)
9 outa 10 were out of 38spl
6 outa 10 were out of 9mm, most that did have some only had FMJ ammo
357mag was the same as the 9mm
most had 45apc but one or two boxes at the most
8 outa 10 were out of 308 (poplular deer cartrige)
most had plenty of 22lr bulk boxes
most had plenty of 7.5/8 shot size 12/20ga (most were out of the slugs and buckshot)

it is right after deer season here it looked like there were lots of holes on the shelves for deer rifle cartriges.

none of the clerks after prompting mentioned anything about a tax increase etc requarding ammo, most just said people were buying lots of it

This is a metals forum, after all, and lead and brass constitute metal. As it is, these lowly metals appear to be poised to out perform all the other metals in the index.

I am quite sure the large uptick in ammo sales at Walmart and Wally world are reported to DHS
